Quality Assurance
We have chosen one of the most widely used and respected
diagnostic instruments for determining a person's level
of impaired functioning and which area it lies in.
This assessment tool is called the Global Assessment of Relational
Functioning Scale (GARF.) It is published in the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM IV, as
an aid to clinicians in diagnosing clients with mental health
issues.
As indicated in the following graph, clients generally entered
counseling well below normal functioning. After ninety days of counseling and continuous sobriety, clients
show marked improvement. After 180 days in Teen and
Family Services the results show significant growth in functioning in a wide range of areas.
