This year Teen and Family Services is honoring Mark A. Wallace, President, and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital at our upcoming Fall Breakfast. TAFS has been proudly serving alongside Texas Children’s hospital over the last eighteen years providing behavioral health care to adolescents admitted to the emergency room in crisis. Mark Wallace has been a driving force behind Texas Children Hospital’s commitment to the Mental/Behavioral Health care of young people in the Greater Houston area, and because of this, we are taking this opportunity to honor him at our breakfast event.
TAFS featured breakfast speaker is Jason Z.W. Powers, MD, DABFP, FASAM, a Texas native originally trained in family medicine, Dr. Powers’ personal experience facing addiction changed the course of his life. He is the author of a comprehensive book about addiction When the Servant Becomes the Master. Jason is a true role model of recovery success, and TAFS is honored that he has agreed to be our featured speaker.
TAFS provides services both on Middle School and High School campuses, as well as community-based centers where we can provide transportation to ensure the entire family system can participate in treatment. Donations from this event will help provide funding for these behavioral health counseling services in Urban Core neighborhoods of Houston.
