James Sargent



James has been licensed as an LCDC since 2008.  He did a 2-year internship at Menninger Clinic prior to obtaining his license.  He attended the Institute of Chemical Dependence Studies in Houston. Jame directed treatment on the Professionals in Crisis Unit at the Menninger Clinic 2008 to December 2012. When there his duties included assessment of chemical dependency and process addictions. He ran relapse prevention and process groups.  His experience and skills include individual counseling, discharge planning, referral and family education. He is certified in trauma resolution, relapse prevention, shame resilience, and trained in sexual addiction assessment. James is also trained to administer the SASSI Screening. Current employment includes 3 days weekly at Weinberger Black and Associates IOP working with individuals and families and adolescents. He has had private practice clients at Houston Pier on Tuesdays the last 2-years. He is familiar with grief and trauma work, co-occurring disorder clients. He has facilitated meditation groups and has interests in spirituality as related to the needs of recovering people. James has co-facilitated grief and trauma release workshops with Jayne Payne, PHD. Jame has been in recovery the last 19 years and has a good working knowledge base of 12- step-SMART-and CRAFT recovery programs. He believes in an open-minded approach in working with addiction clients and families. I believe family involvement in one’s treatment is a crucial aspect of recovery.
